Who We Are!

Purpose:
This site is devoted to the fun memories we shared together on the Original PlayNET network service in the mid 1980?s. It also provides a common place to gather, share, communicate, and help locate our friends.

Who we are:
We are the keepers of the PlayNET members list and memories.  We built this web site to honor our friends, and wish to make it easier for everyone to have fun, see a bit of online history, and provide a place to gather, reminisce, and catch up with each other.

History Brief:
PlayNET was the original online service copyrighted in 1984 based on the Commodore 64 computer. It is the predecessor of Qlink, and AOL. Users could log on to PlayNET from their C64 using a 300 or 1200 baud modem from anywhere in the U.S. using the PlayNET disk, and then could Chat, participate in Special Interest Groups, Instant Message, play multi player games, read message boards, and download/upload files and software.
